Cushions, poufs, mirrors: the extension of the rug
MINOTOR and BESTIAIRE poufs, the Iceberg armchair from GRAND NORD, double-sided cushions and Mircur mirrors: the pieces that take up the rug's design at the height of a seat or of the gaze.

October 2026: GRAND NORD returns to the fore, and with it the Iceberg armchair, the ottoman and the Ice Cube pouf, cut from the same tousled wool as the rugs. It is the principle of all our accompanying pieces. A cushion, a pouf or a mirror extends the rug when it takes up its design, its material or its colour at another height: that of the seat for the pouf, that of the sofa for the cushion, that of the gaze for the mirror. At Diacasan, these pieces were born of the rug collections. The cushions came first, then the poufs designed by Christian Signorel, finally the Mircur mirrors of MINOTOR, made in Italy. So one chooses the rug first, and then looks, within the same collection, for the piece that carries one of its lines. It is the surest way to compose a coherent interior without matching everything, and to keep an artist's signature from one end of the room to the other.
The rug first, the object afterwards
Our furniture and decorative pieces have a simple history: they emerged from the rugs. The cushions led the way, with the designs of MINOTOR and BESTIAIRE made up in the same place. Then the question arose naturally: why not the pouf? Christian Signorel designed it, and a maker equal to it had to be found. It was in Italy that we found one, and it is there that our poufs and furniture are made today, while the fabrics come from France.
This origin explains why most of our accompanying pieces extend an existing rug. The MINOTOR pouf takes up the motif of MINOTOR, the BESTIAIRE cushion the figure of BESTIAIRE, the Iceberg armchair the wool of GRAND NORD. For the client, it is a guarantee of coherence; for the artist, it is the chance to carry his design from the floor into volume.
These pieces are made in small series, with an upholsterer's finish for the seating. They belong to the same publishing work as our rugs, with an artist, a workshop and a material chosen together. Our page on the craft of a rug publisher describes this approach, which always begins with a drawing and an encounter with an artist, before seeking the workshop able to give it form.
The pouf, a line of the rug at seat height
The pouf is the piece that converses most directly with the rug, since it rests upon it. The MINOTOR poufs, round or oblong, are dressed in velvet. Their motif can be placed in two directions: horizontally, it girdles the seat with bands parallel to the floor; vertically, it unfolds in an arch that rises to the top. The same colourway, two bearings, to be chosen according to the rug on which the pouf will live.
MINOTOR 2.0 has its own poufs, in quilted leather. The stitching draws nested arches on the seat, which continue down the side. They exist as an oblong, 90 x 50 cm and 43 cm high, and as a round, 50 cm in diameter, in the Levanto, Calacatta and Azurite colourways, which take up the stones of the rugs. Sandrine recalled it in September: the first-generation poufs do not go with MINOTOR 2.0, hence this separate range.
The BESTIAIRE poufs carry Christian Signorel's creatures, Hydre, Poulpo, Scarab, Tribus, round or oblong. The Tribus oblong sits like a low bench, at the foot of a bed or before a fireplace.
GRAND NORD, designed by Messieurs, goes further into volume. The Iceberg armchair, 95 x 102 cm and 107 cm high, has the mass and irregularity of ice. The accompanying ottoman measures 80 x 80 cm, the Ice Cube pouf 60 x 50 cm and 44 cm high. All are built on a fir frame, in upholsterer's construction, and dressed in the tousled wool that structures the rugs of the collection. Our story Le Grand Nord, pack ice in the living room tells where this material comes from.
The LUKAN fireside chair completes the ensemble. Christian Signorel gave it the name and silhouette of the stag beetle: four massive feet in walnut-stained oak, extended rear uprights that hold a removable back, like the antennae of the beetle. Dressed in cotton velvet and made in Italy, it measures 70 x 78 cm and 80 cm high. It can enter an architect's project or be added on its own, on impulse, as an extra seat.
The cushion, the same figure on the sofa
The cushion sets the rug's design at seat height, on a sofa or an armchair. It is the lightest way to bring a collection into a room.
The BESTIAIRE cushions take up Christian Signorel's figures, Colisée, Olympie, Tribus, Hydre, Poulpo, Scarab, on double-sided printed fabrics, made up in France. The MINOTOR cushions, square or rectangular, render the motif in the shades Tourmaline, Sienne, Cuivre, Émeraude and Ambre. In PAINTINGS, Jean-Paul Espinosa signs the Forêt de cristal cushions, in 60 x 60 and 30 x 60 cm, on a water-repellent fabric printed with OEKO-TEX certified inks, made up in France.
GRAND NORD has its Iceberg cushions, in 45 x 45 and 40 x 68 cm. They are cut from the same tousled fabric as the rugs and the armchair, with a velvet back. On a sofa, they bring the pack ice up from the floor to the height of the hand.
The mirror, the design at eye level
The mirror takes up the rug where the eye loses it: on the wall, above a console, a fireplace or a sofa. The Mircur, which Christian Signorel designed for MINOTOR, is a round mirror. Its circular geometry sets the glass like a disc, in a lacquered structure. It exists in 69, 90 and 110 cm diameters, tinted Bronze, Or Rose or Bleu Cobalt, and it is made in Italy.
The choice of diameter follows the wall. The 69 cm suits an entrance or sits above a small console; the 90 cm finds its place above a chest of drawers or an armchair; the 110 cm, the large format, answers a sofa or a fireplace. Hung above a round MINOTOR rug, the Mircur answers the circle on the floor.
BESTIAIRE has its triptych mirrors. Their frame of oiled satin walnut is engraved in intaglio on the two outer leaves, with the Scarab or Poulpo motif, and the inner mirror is tinted Or Rose or Bronze. They are made in France, with brass hinges.
Composing without matching everything
A successful accompanying piece maintains a precise link with the rug: it takes up its line or its material, or else it brings the colour the rug lacks. The velvet MINOTOR pouf, placed on a MINOTOR rug, takes up the line; the Iceberg armchair, on a GRAND NORD rug, takes up the material; the Mircur Bleu Cobalt, above a rug in stone tones, adds a blue to the wall.
Caution applies to mixing collections. A GRAND NORD cushion placed near a blue rug from another collection will not have the same blue, and the eye notices. Conversely, a small pouf dressed differently can pass from one collection to another: that is the direction the house wishes to follow, letting the collections live with one another. The pairing is better judged in reality than on a screen.
Lead times vary by piece. A BESTIAIRE cushion is ordered in eight weeks when it is not in stock, a Mircur in about twelve weeks, GRAND NORD furniture in eight to twelve weeks depending on the configuration.
The truest course remains to see the ensemble on the floor and on the wall, in our showrooms on the rue du Bac and the rue Cardinet: the rug unrolled, the pouf placed upon it, the mirror at eye level.

Questions fréquentes
How should a pouf and a rug be paired?
The surest course is to choose the pouf from the same collection as the rug, because its colours and design were conceived together. A velvet MINOTOR pouf on a MINOTOR rug takes up the line of the motif; an Ice Cube pouf on a GRAND NORD rug takes up the same tousled wool. The pouf can also bring a contrast, provided it takes up only one thing from the rug: its line, its material or its colour. The leather MINOTOR 2.0 poufs accompany the rugs of the same collection.
What size of round mirror should one choose?
The diameter is chosen according to the wall and the piece of furniture placed beneath it. Christian Signorel's Mircur mirror exists in 69, 90 and 110 cm. The 69 cm suits an entrance or a small console; the 90 cm finds its place above a chest of drawers or an armchair; the 110 cm answers a sofa or a fireplace. A round mirror above a round rug answers the circle on the floor, which the round MINOTOR allows, from 90 to 300 cm in diameter.
Where are Diacasan poufs, cushions and mirrors made?
The furniture and poufs are made in Italy, with an upholsterer's finish, in a workshop with which we have worked for fifteen years. The Mircur mirrors of MINOTOR are also made in Italy. The BESTIAIRE triptych mirrors, in engraved walnut, are made in France, as is the making up of the BESTIAIRE and PAINTINGS cushions. The rugs remain hand-knotted in Nepal or hand-tufted in India, and it is from them that the designs of all these pieces come.
Are the cushions double-sided?
Several are. Christian Signorel's BESTIAIRE cushions are printed on both sides, which allows the figure visible on the sofa to be varied. The GRAND NORD Iceberg cushions pair a tousled fabric, the same as that of the rugs and the armchair, with a velvet back, and can be turned according to the desired effect. The MINOTOR cushions are presented as double-sided on the collection page. Formats range from 45 x 45 cm to 60 x 60 cm, with rectangles of 30 x 60 and 40 x 68 cm.
Can another fabric or colour be chosen?
Yes, for certain pieces. The LUKAN fireside chair, in cotton velvet, accepts a custom fabric. For the poufs, cushions and mirrors, a particular request is discussed with us, within a project, starting from the existing colourways of the collection. This is often how architects and decorators work, seeking a piece coherent with the rug and with their client's interior. The lead time then depends on the material chosen and on the workshop.
